Summary
The Laboratory of Neural Circuit Modulation in the Departments of Neurology and Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking highly motivated and creative scientists. The applicant will join an NIH-funded lab to engage in basic and translational neuroscience research. The laboratory uses in vivo imaging, electrophysiology and optogenetic approaches to better understand mechanisms that control neural activity dynamics, and to develop strategies to inhibit epilepsy. Job Duties
- Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
- Evaluates and analyzes data.
- Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
- Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals.
- Maintains laboratory operations.
- Supervises research staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in neuroscience, neuroengineering, or related fields.
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: epilepsy models, electrophysiology, EEG monitoring and analysis, two-photon microscopy and analysis, optogenetic techniques.
- Prior experience in mouse in vivo neuroscience research.
- Expertise in using and developing computational tools for neuroscience data analysis.
- Research experience and publication record in neuroscience.
- Excellent written/oral communication.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and collaborative basic/translational research environment.
